Illinois Capital Development Board Response to Coronavirus
March 19, 2020 - Contractors CLDC LMCC LECETThe Illinois Capital Development Board is currently taking the following actions to help halt the spread of the coronavirus.
CBD is in the process of reviewing each of its 97 active construction projects to determine whether they should continue work given the coronavirus pandemic.
This review is being made on a case by case basis; if a project can continue with a low likelihood of transmitting the virus (such as work that is predominantly outside or where workers can remain 6 feet or more apart), it will proceed. Of the 97 active projects:
- 31 will continue;
- 34 will be suspended; and
- 32 are still undergoing review.
All contractors on halted projects will be called by the project manager and will receive notification by mail. If a project will be halted, it will likely have to be closed-up to prevent damage to the site.
CDB does not yet have a list of projects that will be suspended.
All bids will be suspended, as well, and design work that requires site visits will also be halted. Therefore, this will not only impact the 34 to 66 projects that are under construction, but it will delay future work as well.
This information is subject to change as this is a rapidly evolving situation. CDB is hopeful that most projects and activities will resume soon.
