IDOT and Illinois Tollway Response to Coronavirus

Following is an update regarding IDOT and the Tollway’s response to the coronavirus:

IDOT is sending all non-essential staff home, in accordance with the recommendations from the Governor and public health officials.

  1. Operations staff will remain to ensure the safety of our existing infrastructure.
  2. At this point, construction will continue at IDOT and the Tollway.  IDOT alone has over 800 contracts let, not counting local municipal contracts.
  3.  IDOT and the Tollway’s goal is to NOT suspend construction. IDOT Acting Secretary Omer Osman has been in contact with other Midwest DOTs, and they are all of a similar mind.
