You Made it Happen
November 9, 2020 - CLDCA Special Message from Terry O'Sullivan, LIUNA General President
LIUNA...You made it happen. Thank You!
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Let me begin by thanking each and every one of you for all of your hard work during this extraordinary election. You showed yourselves to be tough, tenacious working-class warriors who lived up to the ideals of those who came before us. Make no mistake about it: the 500,000 strong, proud, and united men and women of LIUNA made a crucial difference in the outcome of this election, particularly in battleground states. YOU kicked ass! YOU delivered the presidency. YOU helped push Joe Biden and Kamala Harris over the top, and YOU helped elect many pro-union, pro-labor, and pro-family candidates to office.
The American people have spoken, and it is now time for everyone to honor their will. Baseless, frivolous, and unfounded attempts to throw out or stop counting votes are an affront to law and order, and a direct assault on the very foundations of our great republic. Through war and peace, boom and bust, good times and bad, our orderly transfer of power has been, and must remain, a shining example of the rule of law.
When Joe Biden and Kamala Harris take office in January, we will have two of our own in the highest offices in the land. Joe and Kamala truly understand the trials and tribulations of working men and women; they never forget where they came from; and they value hard work and the people who do it. I am confident that over the next four years, they will build back better, restore our standing in the world, and help all Americans prosper and succeed.
Throughout these challenging times, one thing remains constant: the core commitment of our great International Union to the principles of justice, honor, and strength. In the months and years to come, we will continue to stand together on behalf of the cause, the purpose, and the mission of LIUNA and the entire trade union movement. We will never back down, we will never back up, we will never retreat, and we sure as hell will never surrender, in the ongoing struggle for workers’ rights, civil rights, and human rights.
Thank you again for all that you have done and continue to do to keep this union strong. The American people felt the power of LIUNA, and will never forget it. May you feel the power; may you use the power; and may you be the power.
